In Worship: This week, we will welcome Rev. Derrek Belase, Director of Discipleship for the Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church.  He will conclude our sermon series entitled, Our Purpose is Love with the message: A Community Defined.

Here again are the questions for October 28st for your reflection:

  1. How can conflict became an opportunity for spiritual growth?
  2. What is our proper response to people with whom we disagree?
  3. What have you learned from this series?
  4. Where do you see disciples being made and the world being transformed because of the United Methodist Church?

Children and Youth fundraiser lunch!  Our Wesley children and youth will be cooking a delicious taco lunch with all the fixin’s this Sunday.  Your financial donation is always appreciated and will be used to fund upcoming children and youth events.  As a reminder, children & youth at Wesley participate in all events free of charge to their families because of your generosity!

Wesley Charge Conference: We will once again be part of all-district Crossroads Charge Conference on Saturday, November 3rd from 9:30-3:30 PM at New Covenant UMC in Edmond. Mainly, this will be a vital and valuable learning event. The focus of the event will be leading with hopefulness, energy, and enthusiasm. This year’s Keynote Speaker will be Dr. David McDonald, author of The Adventure of Happiness. David is a pastor, teacher, and lecturer in colleges and seminaries all over the world. His work with Westwinds Community Church (http://www.westwinds.org) has been featured in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Time magazine.

Thanksgiving Eve Dinner, Wednesday, November 21, 5-7 p.m. The notion that “no one eats alone” on Thanksgiving is  the impetus for this annual gathering.  Last year, Wesley was able to serve over 40 guests at our Thanksgiving Eve dinner thanks to your generous and delicious food offerings!  If you are able to assist this year, please respond to Susan Howard 990- 8036, rshoward@aol.com, OR sign up on the sheet outside the West office.   Ready-to-serve food should be in the parlor no later than 4:30 p.m. on the day.  Thank you in advance for supporting this gathering!

Exodus House Thanksgiving Dinner:  Our friends at Exodus House will be celebrating Thanksgiving at Wesley on Tuesday, November 13th at 6:00 PM.  If you would like to help with this meal, contact Sara Schieman at sschieman0531@gmail.com or Fran Parkhill at jfranparkhill@gmail.com. ALSO, we are collecting gently used Christmas decorations that residents can select from during the meal to decorate their apartment.  If you have Christmas decorations to donate, leave you contribution in the Quilt Room on Level 1.
