Wesley On the Move! July 28 – August 4th
In Worship: We will continue our Worship series, entitled “Unafraid” that will offer insights into living with courage and hope in uncertain times. Based on the book by Adam Hamilton, topics we will take up in the coming weeks include: crime, terrorism, failure, disappointing others, insignificance, loneliness, missing out, change, aging, dying and illness. This week: “Unafraid: Fear of the Other.”

OCU Starts up Opportunities! Volunteers from Wesley have two great ways to welcome back OCU Stars:
Dinners for Ladies Volleyball team: August 7-12 (Wednesday-Monday). Volunteers are asked to provide a healthy meal for the OCU ladies volleyball team. (They start practice before the cafeteria opens.) Contact Nancy Christensen at email@example.com for more information or to pick a date! Look for the sign up sheet!
Pick up international students at the airport: August 10 and 11 (Saturday and Sunday). Contact Pastor Marla at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Look for the sign up sheet!
Sunday Community Lunch Returns! Our lunch after Worship each Sunday resumes on August 4th with our all-church potluck! We hope that you will join us each Sunday for this extended time to fellowship together. Bring your favorite dish to share – store bought or homemade!
LGBTQIA+ Listening and learning opportunities: The Wesley Church Council invites the entire Wesley community to be part of continued listening and learning as we discern together Wesley’s next steps as a community of faith. In August there are two opportunities with more coming in September:
August 11: Showing of the movie Inlaws & Outlaws. Grab a plate at lunch and join us in the parlor for all or part of this 100-minute movie. Inlaws & Outlaws is a documentary that weaves together the true stories of couples and singles – both gay and straight – to create a collective narrative of stories of love, loss and belonging.
August 25: Facilitated table conversations at lunch. During our community lunch, facilitators will be positioned at some of the tables to invite conversation around two questions: A) How has what you believe about LGBTQIA+ inclusion changed or been affirmed since childhood? B) What key encounters affirmed or changed your beliefs?
Children and Youth Summer Schedule: We are excited to continue summer 2019 with more fun activities to celebrate our children and youth. For questions and transportation arrangements, contact:
Allison Hudson, (620) 778-5625, email@example.com
NOTE: Permission slips are required for ALL outings away from Wesley Church.
July 29th-31st: Art Camp: A free, hands-on art camp for kids grades 1-6 will take place from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm each night (Monday-Wednesday). Dinner will be provided.
August 4th: Back to School Celebration @ The Station: We will conclude our summer fun by going to The Station Aquatic Center in Moore, OK. We will leave Wesley at 1:00 pm and stay at The Station until 4:00 pm.
Paint and Pray Summer Schedule: Wesley’s Paint and Pray ministry will meet every other week during the summer: August 8th and August 22nd.
