ANNOUNCEMENTS
In Worship: We continue our sermon series entitled, “Our Purpose is Love” based on the book “Our Purpose is Love – the Wesleyan Way to Be the Church” by David N. Field. Each week you will be invited to work your way thoughtfully and prayerfully through a study sheet related the sermon. All sermons will be recorded and made available for viewing outside the worship service. Sunday School classes are encouraged to follow this study and discuss the study guides. Copies of Field’s book are available for Sunday School leaders and any Wesley member who would like their own copy. Also, the Journey of Faith adult Sunday School class will be studying the entire book, “Our Purpose is Love” and invite you to join them!
Here again are the questions for September 23rd for your reflection:
1. What is a Christian?
2. What attitudes, words or actions would reflect a life shaped by God’s love?
3. In what ways has your love for God changed the way you view/spend your money?
And here are the questions for September 30th for your reflection:
1. What comes to mind when you hear the word church?
2. What does it mean to be a member of a church?

Mobile Meals Blizzard Bags and Special Offering: Each Thursday, Wesley Church cooks and delivers a fresh, homemade meal to 20-25 homebound seniors. Occasionally, roads are too treacherous for Mobile Meals to travel, so Wesley delivers a “blizzard bag” full of goodies to eat instead. We are currently collecting self-stable food and assembling the blizzard bags. Between now and October 14th, please leave your donation in the West office labeled “blizzard bags” Vienna sausages, fruit cups, pudding cups, cheese crackers, peanut butter crackers, soft breakfast bars, and small cans of soup (pop-top). Also, on September 30th in worship we will take up a special offering for this vital ministry!
“Way Forward” Report – OKUMC Discussion Opportunity: All are invited to attend an open meeting to be held at St. Luke’s UMC on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm. This meeting will be live-streamed if you are unable to attend in person.
Life Line Screening Comes to Wesley! Life line is a leading provider of community-based preventive health screenings, is pleased to offer a preventive health event at Wesley on 10/16/2018. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease; atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening, for men and women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis. There are three ways to register for this event: call toll-free 1-888-653-6441, visit http://lifelinescreening.com/communitycircle or text the word circle to 797979.
