In Worship:  We continue our sermon series entitled, “Our Purpose is Love” based on the book “Our Purpose is Love – the Wesleyan Way to Be the Church” by David N. Field. Each week you will be invited to work your way thoughtfully and prayerfully through a study sheet related the sermon. All sermons will be recorded and made available for viewing outside the worship service.  Sunday School classes are encouraged to follow this study and discuss the study guides.  Copies of Field’s book are available for Sunday School leaders and any Wesley member who would like their own copy.  Also, the Journey of Faith adult Sunday School class will be studying the entire book, “Our Purpose is Love” and invite you to join them!

Here again are the questions for September 16th for your reflection:

  1. Why do you think God didn’t just give up on humanity after Adam and Eve disobeyed God?
  2. How do you understand and experience God’s grace?
  3. In what ways do you embody God’s love for the world around you?

And here are the questions for September 23rd for your reflection:

  1. What is a Christian?
  2. What attitudes, words or actions would reflect a life shaped by God’s love?
  3. In what ways has your love for God changed the way you view/spend your money?

Sunday Fellowship Lunch:  We hope that you will join us each Sunday for this extended time to fellowship together. This Sunday’s lunch is sponsored by Phil and Lisa Haddon and we want to express our gratitude to them for their gift!  If you would like more information about hosting a lunch, please contact Jean Hendrickson (jhendrickson@sbcglobal.net) or Ron Otte (frondesk@wesleyokc.org)

OCU International Student Opportunity:  Wesley will be taking OCU international students to two events in the coming week.  And, we are looking for a couple of volunteers to provide transportation in the Wesley vans. The OCU International students want to go the State Fair on Friday September 21st from 5:30 – 9:00pm (ish). We need two van drivers for this event.  Our tickets for the Fair will be comped by the OCU International department. They would also like to attend an Energy FC Soccer game on Sunday, September 23rd. Time will be about 5:00pm to 9:00pm (ish) as well. Tickets comped here too. Please contact Nancy Christensen at nanbil24@gmail.com if you can help.
